(WECK 123o) — The frustrating thing about the Bills’ selection of defensive end Alex Carrington is not that he’s rated much later in the draft — any draft experts are liable to fail — but that it’s hard to believe Buddy Nix has seen something in two consecutive players that the rest of the league hasn’t.
Obviously, that gentlewoman above isn’t our Alex Carrington, who went to Arkansas State, stands 6’5″ and was the 2008 Sun Belt defensive player of the year. He has 21 sacks during four years in school, including 19 in his junior and senior seasons. Four of those sacks came against Western Kentucky in the final week of 2009′s campaign. OURLADS (which you are learning is my favored publication) has a lot of solid things to say about our boy, but adds that he is “green as a gourd,” which is bizarre considering I see an awful lot of orange and yellow gourds, and he appears to be African American.
Maybe Colt McCoy will continue to drop, as I’m very high on the lad from Texas.
